COMMUNITY CURIOSITIES

We got the opportunity to interview Mateus for this edition of the Scoop! The dear deer gave us a glimpse under the hood and into the mind of one of Frosting’s most consistently exceptional artists. Take a gander at the Q&A here and don’t hesitate to show him some love in comments on his art!

Q. Can you describe your creative process? How do you approach starting and completing a new piece?
A. My creative process is simpler then you might think. The first thing I do is choose a character. This can be some original character of mine, someone else’s OC or just a completely random one! Frosting has a very nice generation system to make the pics come alive. Secondly, I think about a background and the theme and even the pose (which can be hard sometimes 😅). Composing these steps together might sound difficult at first, but if you are very creative: "the world is your oyster!

Q. What inspires your work, and how do you incorporate those influences into your art?
A. It probably all started years ago when I was browsing pictures on various sites, admiring the creativity and unique styles of different artists. I often found myself wondering how amazing it would be to create my own artwork in a style that I truly enjoy—bringing characters to life that I would love designing and making stuff with. This curiosity and excitement never really faded. Even now, I still find inspiration from different sources, whether it’s from other artists, nature, stories, or even everyday experiences, literally anything can be an inspiration. 😊

Q. What message or emotion do you hope viewers take away from your work?
A. Personally I am a huge fan of feedback of any kind, and I thankfully experience so many positive ones which always make my days. Comments, direct messages or in servers, I am always really glad to read them.
I'm hoping my audience will experience the same joy and inspiration I experience looking at others’ art. That unexplainable feeling which tells you: "Yes, this is my style, I like this!" It's hard to explain, because everyone is different, but I think that makes it even more special. My message probably would be, “don't give up on your ideas and if you want to mess around with creating pictures, I have good news for you. There are literally millions of combinations that are compatible with Frosting's amazing generator, it's really mindblowing.” You just have to find what you like and after that, enjoy! 😁

Be sure to check out Mateus’s page on Frosting to catch a glimpse of his latest projects, and while you’re there, why not throw him a follow to keep up to date with his uploads!
